Welcome
Welcome to the Learning@School 2007 Conference!
Nau mai, haere mai, ngā iwi o te motu
The Ministry of Education will be running its annual Information and Communication Technologies conference at the new Energy Events Centre in Rotorua from 20-23 February 2007.
CORE Education, the educational research and development organisation based in Christchurch, is contracted to manage the conference for the Ministry.
A key focus of the conference will be the establishment of a cohesive network for the ICT PD Clusters programme for the next three-year period for the 2007 group of clusters, and a chance to develop the wider network for the 2005 and 2006 groups. The conference programme will reflect much of the best that is currently happening in ICT in New Zealand and will feature research and development from overseas.
The conference will have a very strong emphasis on workshops run by current leading practitioners from the over 100 ICT PD Clusters and others who are working alongside the schools to ensure their success. Your taking part in the programme as a presenter will also provide valuable opportunities for the facilitators and is seen a crucial part of the ongoing development of our network as a whole.
New clusters commencing in 2007 are strongly urged to attend the full conference. This will begin at 5.00pm with a Powhiri on Tuesday 20 February with registrations beginning at 5.30pm.
It is suggested that at least the director and lead facilitator(s) from each cluster will attend this conference. Clusters have in the past included lead teachers/key teachers and others at these conferences as a way of ensuring that the programme gets off to a very good start. The organisers have had to put a limit of 800 on those attending. However, participants must be a part of or linked to the Ministry of Education Information and Communication Technology Professional Development (ICT PD) programme in some way. We would encourage you to see this as an exciting and very worthwhile opportunity, take full advantage of it and budget for full attendance of your key personnel – the value as assessed by those attending from the past, is huge.
